You really are an idiot. And a precious one at that.

That's actually a bit of an idiotic thing to say old boy. I'm sure you're aware of how much emotion and excitement/planning/discussion/personal investment us made when someone thinks they've found their dream home.

This bin store could be noisy, smelly, and hinder privacy. You'll have people walking by your fence many times a day banging bin lids, and a good chance that they'll not be sufficient and therefore people will start leaving things beside them. Seagulls will start raiding them.

I wouldn't buy this house in the OPs position.

Believe me it will smell, even in winter. I would run a mile.

    Me too.

I would just hate the idea of that amount of other peoples refuse near my property....smell or no smell.

    Same here.

We went to visit my niece in uni halls the other week, and she went to empty her bins in the communal refuse area, and OMG the STINK! Almost made me vom! :(

One bin (in the warm summer months) honks to high heaven when it gets above 70-75 F. Dirty nappies, old cat food, leftover meat. But 2 feet away from my garden fence X 10?! Ewwwwwwwwww. NO!
I had a different problem. They would come and empty the big industrial bins early in the morning which would wake me up. They didn't smell, but they were really noisy being emptied by my bedroom window.

    This ^ :T

I have also experienced this back in the past.

    This also ^ :T

The OP is perfectly entitled to pull out of the sale. I would.
    cooeeeeeeeee :j

There is no sale to pull out of, they haven't even reserved the property yet.
  • I could think of many words to describe you but won't lower myself to it. The fact you are calling me an idiot over a genuine concern that alone says what type of person you are.

It's just an internet forum thing, don't get twitchy about it. We open ourselves up for all manner of critique when we post on these things, and have to accept feedback we didn't expect! 😀
  • Yes I understand this is an Internet forum but dont understand why I wasn't called an idiot.
I'm a first time buyer looking for advise about a concern not to be called names for no reason! I would totally accept it if I had done something and deserved to be called it but it's a bit uncalled foe

Because the person who called you an idiot is an idiot himself. If you saw an idiot in the street and he called you an idiot for no reason, would you even give it a second thought? No, so why do you when an idiot you don't know does the same on the internet?
  • Thank you you've made some real valid points there which has given me some things to think about! We were just so happy to have found the right but I guess it's worth buying a different One and making some sacrifices so we don't have the bin problem really in the long run!

You shouldn't even acknowledge his post - just ignore it. Almost everyone else has replied sympathetically to your post as most people understand how you can get emotionally attached to a property especially if you have been looking for a long time.
  • We spoke to the sales rep and she said there was no else had enquired yet and we would be first called as soon as they came up. I am glad that I've noticed before we reserved it though
