Blocked youtube video

I posted a 9 minute clip on youtube of a film (ripped from DVD) and it was almost immediately blocked for copyright infringement.
I've posted film clips before when this didn't happen, so I'm wondering why this clip got blocked.
Is there a legitimate way round this, or something I just have to accept?

Are you the copyright holder of the material on the DVD?0

Then what did you expect!0

It's down to the copyright holder what they want to happen, some might not know or care others will ensure a Content ID claim is filed and the subsequent video/audio is blocked.Oh let's see, maybe someone could explain how other video clips I've posted haven't been blocked?
Or maybe nobody can answer that.0 -
Thanks. There must be many copyright holders who don't know / care (or have no way of checking) in that case, and I was unlucky.0

Or were your previous video clips shorter than 9 mins? I'm not sure of the exact figures but you will be able to post clips of a few minutes from a video under fair usage. The same way websites can give you 30 secs of a music track, I'd imagine its 4-5 minutes for a film?0

The existing clips I've posted are 3:18, 9:18, 7:57 and 2:05, so not sure if the timing is the key.
My theory is they're all from fairly obscure films, not made by major studios, whereas the one I tried to post yesterday was from Sony Pictures.
Obviously I accept the law's the law, but my reason for posting clips is to generate a bit of interest in some fairly forgotten films, and those who enjoy the clips might be tempted to buy the DVD, so almost a form of advertising for the DVD.0 -
If you explain that to the Content ID holder then an option open to them is to monetize your video. Have you filed a dispute? The existing clips I've posted are 3:18, 9:18, 7:57 and 2:05, so not sure if the timing is the key.
