Hello.
At the weekend my neighbour asked if i could look at his bathroom light for him.
His bathroom is about 10ft X 11ft and only has i light over the sink near a window like the one in this link.
http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4325853
He has a 100watt incandesent GLS bulb in there and the rated one is meant to be max 60watt candle.
His eyesight has been going bad for a few years and i changed most of the bulbs in house for CFL 100watt equiv as he has fallen over a few times due the bad eyesight but i never touched the bathroom one.
He has had 3 sparks out and they have ranged from £200- £240 to change the light for a new one with a brighter output but he doesn't want to spend that much yet.
Is there a LED ES27 GLS bulb about that will output over 100watt equiv and has a beam angle over 240 deg as the bulb has to be horizontal and if less than 240 deg may not light up the bathroom correctly.
At the momment with the 100watt bulb is very bright but when the glass cover goes on it makes the bathroom not as bright.
Any advice taken and Merry Christmas to you all.

Ikea sell an 1800 lumen LED bulb with an E27 thread, it's 95mm in diameter:

I think that's roughly equivalent to a 150W incandescent bulb. It looks like it has a roughly hemispherical light distribution.0 -
You'd never that into the light fitting.
This might manage it: http://www.thelightbulb.co.uk/20watt-es-e27-screw-cap-equivalent-to-100watt0 -
Is there room inside in the fitting for 2 bulbs? If so, one of these converters with 2 LED bulbs might work:

It feels like a bit of a hack, but I guess fitting one wouldn't fall under Part-P.0 -

Changing a light is an easy diy job, can't you get him to buy a 3 bulb lamp for £30 and just spend half an hr fitting it?
Watch out for the colour of led bulbs as he may struggle if it's very different to the one he's got.0 -
Is it screw or bayonet fitting?
I have fitted 11 Watt LED from Screfix and they are really bright.

I am not a fan of CFL bulbs. They take a few minutes to reach full brightness and never seem to be as bright as the manufacturers claim."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Don't forget we are talking bathroom here so needs one that meets the requirements for the zone it's fitted in0 -
Tesco sell a very high brightness LED bulb, 1500 lumens if I remember correctly.
I bought a few but they were too bright for my lounge/dining room.
Not sure if it will fit in that enclosure or not.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
