Howdens Guarantee

Hi
I have a 1 yr 11 month old extractor that I got from Howdens- it's failed a few times over past few months and they've sent someone out to repair three times as per the 2 year guarantee.
It's failed again and I've convinced them to send me a replacement which is good however they are insisting they are not liable to replace the faulty one and fit the new one.
Does anyone know where legally I stand with this?
As far as I'm concerned the item should last a reasonable length of time and if this is not the case as per the guarantee they should be liable for costs to replace the item?
Thanks

They may not be liable for fitting the replacement one. However they are liable for reasonable costs involved in replacement of said extractor fan. As a consumer you cannot be left out of pocket when a product fails under warranty.
Remind them off this and offer to get 3 quotes to have the old one removed and the new one installed.0 -
Thanks for advice/info.
I do feel as though I've originally paid my joiner to install and expected the part to last a reasonable length of time. Not forever but at least past the guarantee (and hopefully a little more!).
If their item was not faulty I'd not have to be a) getting replacement and b) getting it fixed?
Other posters - they are trade only but my contract is with Howdens as the purchaser/consumer I thought?0 -

Ok thanks Neil.
He seems to be under the impression that it's Howdens responsibility, not his. Will need to check out.
Wanted to ask on here as didn't want to jump the gun before I knew the consumer/legal facts!
Btw I keep meaning to tag your quote in my replies but I'm new to the forum and keep forgetting! D'oh!0
