your biggest gaming letdown?

I think the original "Sin" game.
Had it one Christmas. Virtually unplayable due to load times. Had to wait for them to send out a patch CD sometime later.0 -
For me it was The Sims 4. I was following the sneak previews from around June time and then it came out that following September. I was disappointed with the previews but then I downloaded a beta of Create a Sim and it ran nicely on my slow computer, so I pre-ordered it.
Well it arrived through my door on the release date, took forever to download, then I loaded it up and there was loading screens for everything within the game, from travelling to the main city, to crossing the road to view your neighbour's house. This ruined The Sims for me.
Most people said it'll get better when the expansion packs come out, and that the base game is always boring. But I remember playing The Sims 3 base game for months non-stop before I bought my first expansion pack. They ruined SimCity too.
I don't really play games anymore. But when I do, I play SimCity 4, the older version of SimCity. Just because you can do more0 -
Mass Effect 3.
I still like the game, and I still enjoy the series. I can forgive ME1 its glitches and outdated combat mechanics. I can forgive ME2 its lack of plot (seriously, 90% of the game is doing favours for people).
And ME3, I'll forgive the plot armour, I'll forgive the buggy DLC, I'll forgive the silly fetch quests... but I can't forgive that ending.
ME2's last mission was awesome. It felt epic, took a decent amount of time, you had to think about your choices (to a certain extent), things could go wrong, and every single one of your squadmates is there. You can see whoever is in the vent in the vent. You get cutscenes with your other squadmates holding the line. You feel as if you and your whole team is working together on this mission.
ME3 already lacked the squad numbers. Heck, if you don't have From Ashes, and you imported a save with some very bad choices, you could feasibly end up with only Liara, James and EDI as choices for your squad. That was a bit of a letdown after ME2's sizeable squad options - especially as trying out different squad configurations to get different dialogue added to the replayability of ME2.
But the main issue is that final mission. It should have been Suicide Mission v2.0. It should have been even more epic than storming the Collector Base at the end of ME2. You should have felt that all your troops were on the battlefield to take back Earth. You didn't. Based on the extraction scene, it seems you picked your two squad members and everyone else slumped off back to the Normandy. If you spent ME2 upgrading the Normandy SR2 to have a Thanix Cannon, you can only assume the Systems Alliance took it away again.
And then, after battling through London in a rather muted mission, the game ends with fifteen minutes of arguing with a computer. ME1 left me so excited I immediately loaded up ME2. ME2 left me so pumped up with energy after the Suicide Mission I bought ME3 moments after completing ME2.
ME3... left me flat. So disappointed. And it's a shame because it isn't a bad game by any stretch but I had such high hopes for it after playing through the previous two. Perhaps it was a case that it would never have lived up to my expectations? But I know it would have come a lot closer if it hadn't ended with a video game version of a forum argument. She would always like to say,

Uncharted 3 for me. After the excellence that was Uncharted 2, the third game just felt so...disjointed. I really need to get into UC4 some time soon, though. Have heard it's a return to form.0

I get what you mean but I still loved it. I played the fourth recently I think if you are like me you may be slightly disappointed. It's good but not as good as 2 and 3. Most people seem to love it though. An issue I had is the new characters are bland and sully is in it less and there's less humour.0 -
I found Uncharted 4 a perfect end to the series, for me it surpassed my favourite entry (part 2) and fixed the mistakes of Uncharted 3 where it felt to me like being dragged from setpiece to setpiece.
I understand that Uncharted is like that as a series, but 2 and 4 masked it beautifully. 4 was strangely poignant too.0 -
I think that you have a spoiled disc. Most likely on the surface there are scratches or minor damage, which is enough for a bad reaction program and reading. Especially if you say that the menu is not working properly in the management mode for killzone 3.0

I revisited the inspiration for this thread recently. I managed to progress to chapter 8 but I am now stuck again. You have to freefall through a landscape of collapsing buildings. The problem is the controls are so bad that to me it's a miracle that anyone gets through this part. There is something similar in far cry 4 where you fly through a canyon but on shadow fall the controls are much worse and the section lasts much longer.
I wonder is the game as they intended or did they skimp on testing to get it out in time for the console launch.0 -

Sims 4 for me as well - it drives me nuts and is just not as interesting as Sims 3 - I also would play the base game of Sims 3 for ages without getting bored. There are some features I love on Sims 4 but mostly it drives me nuts. My particular bugbear is the 3 hour showers they take.
I am also not overly enamoured of Civ 6. But I also remember feeling the same way about Civ 5 when that came out. Civ 5 is now one of my favourite games so perhaps I just need to give it another chance. I do love the theme tune to Civ 6 though. I do get annoyed that someone attacks me, without provocation, in every single game I have played so far!
I have just discovered Witcher 3 on xbox (the first xbox game I have been able to play apart from Guitar Hero!) - I am absolutely loving it.ENFP - AssertiveOfficially in a clique of idiotsSmoke me a kipper; I'll be back for breakfast0
