My son teacher who is now a senco called my son an idiot fuming???

Options
I am fuming I had my son's friend over and they told me that one of my son's teachers keep picking on him for no reason. The teacher would call him idiot for no reason more then once in front of whole class.. I took a note of what my son friends have told me as could be used as witness statements . I have contacted ofsted who where supportive but couldn't do anything and told me to go to the governors. I already spoke to the head who didn't even an knowledge my complaint. Instead I find out today that she is going to become the school senco. My son doesn't have a problem with any other teachers. I spoke to child service who told me this could be child abuse as this is a type of emotional abuse. My son has never been abused before. If my son records this next term do you think we would get in trouble or should we do this as the school told me in polite words no evidence then I can't help or take you seriously. The headteacher didn't even tell me about the support groups I could contact for help regarding this.

What has your son said about this? Unless I have misread your post the only person to mention this is your son's friend. Could it be that he/she has a grudge against this teacher?

Also how old is your son and his friend?
  • He is 13...
  • My son was too scared and embrassed to tell me. It's not a grudge because she said in front of the whole class. So everyone in his class witnessed it plus she said it more then once. He was handing in his work to the teacher who was talking to someone from school leadership team and she just called my son an idiot. That's shocking to be said that in front of a senior teacher who now thinks my son an idiot.. I am raging.

Someone called your son an idiot and you contact Ofsted, child services (whoever they are), start claiming it's abuse and want a support group. Really? And your son was too scared and embarrassed to tell you?

    Surely you're trolling.

If not, step 1, contact the teacher in question...

Before you go to the school and accuse someone of something you might want to do a few checks. When your son was handing his work in was it something that he had done on time and followed the instructions of what he was supposed to be doing?

Perhaps your son actually did or said something that was idiotic. I know when I was 13 I did say and do idiotic things, as did many of my contemporaries.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Please for the love of god give your son a chance in life.

Hes just getting to that age where the world won't be full of candyfloss. As insults go its not the worst, its not personalised or sustained.

If this was a constant belittlement of your child then thats a different story. I think your a troll so im giving up typing now. cya.

Before you kick off, make sure your sons friends will repeat what they told you in front of someone else. You may find they deny saying it.
  • I can't imagine that the headteacher and board of governors would ignore name calling by a teacher. When my son was called a loser by his teacher in class, and again in the corridor when it was crowded, my son told me - he was really upset. I saw the head of the subject a few days later (the teacher had gone off sick in the meantime, but the head of subject was the person the teacher was talking to during the corridor incident). The head of the subject was downright rude to me, shouting at me in front of others - it was at a parent's evening. Messages to the teacher and head of subject had previously gone unanswered.

To get to the point, I told the head of subject that he had no right to shout at me like that, and that I objected to the way both teachers were treating my son. I was fuming. I spoke to the headteacher straight away. It was sorted immediately and my son was treated properly after that - no more name calling and helped when he needed it (this had also been an issue).

Schools do not like complaints about teachers. If you speak to the head, it can often be dealt with quickly and informally. I requested that the head sort it out as soon as possible, because I was considering a written, formal complaint otherwise. A written complaint has to be replied to, in writing, within a set timeframe.

If this isn't a troll post (and school holidays have already started for some), then any complaint should be in writing if an informal word with the headteacher hasn't satisfied you.
