Completely Crazy Clothes Challenge 2017

Can I sign up for £50 per month (£600 for the year), not included is any outfits that need to be bought for weddings (two this year so far).
Anything I don't spend from that £50 I plan to put into savings and NOT roll it over to the next month.
If any extra is needed per month this has to come from the sales of other clothing, shoes, etc.
Looking forward to this challenge!
Sure, you are number 25.
Good luck with the challenge.

I have some cash in the house so I have put £160 in an envelope. This is my clothing budget for the year. I think having it set aside like this will keep me mindful
If I buy anything when I am out I can take it from the envelope. And yes, I know it is £10 more than I allowed myself but I only had £20 notes. I will correct that when I have a £10 note. It feels really good to have it set aside like that.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
I'm another project 333 lass. My plan for this week is to sort out my 33 items for Winter by shopping my wardrobe (I usually do this at the start of December but was too busy and then ill). I also use project 333 as a capsule wardrobe to wear but keep my other items in the spare room. This means every 3 months I get a 'fix' of new clothes from clothes I already own. It has been working well for me as I haven't spent on new clothes for a year and have only bought items from the charity shops or made them.
While I choose my capsule wardrobe this week I'll have a bit of a declutter and make a list of items I want to replace (at charity shop) or make. I'll plan my sewing for the next couple of months- I'm going to start making some items from vintage patterns and ideally I'll use fabric from stash rather than buy new.
Watty 1- like your idea...I might do that too.....maybe with a picture on the front of what I'd be spending it on if I don't get clothes.....the house as I'd do an overpayment on the mortgage2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Hi everyone
I would like to join in please, I haven't done this challenge for a few years but I'd like to have a go. So my budget will be £300 but I hope it will be lots less, I will keep a tally in my budget book that I received for Xmas, so it has its own pages that I'm looking forwards to keeping empty!!!! I think I might write a list of stuff I think I want and then see what I actually buy. Oh and I want to have a go at sewing a few bits but I don't know how successful that will be.

vintagegal wrote: »Hello everyone! We've got lots of very small budgets this year, I am in awe of some of them! But then I am very easily tempted when it comes to clothes and shoes..
I've ordered a few bits in the sales, mainly shoes as I needed some flat ones due to the broken ankle. I have deliberately avoided looking at clothes as I DO NOT WANT TO BE THIS SIZE! and I don't want to buy things that are too small as that is just depressing. I ordered three nighties as I had to throw some away as they had holes in... I think I've had them since I was pregnant and my children are 11 and 9! I never wear things out so that was a first.
Am counting these in the already blown 2016 budget which is naughty.
I weighed myself and managed not to cry.. haven't decided what weight loss to do (maybe SW?) but also need to wait until my physio appt next week to see what movement I will be allowed to do. Hopefully can start walking but want some guidance about how many steps etc. I have set up the savings account to transfer the budget to, as and when I lose any weight. Need to try and get some of the chocolate out of the house without encouraging the children to eat more than they should!
Hey vintagegal good to see you back. With regard to exercise, would gentle swimming perhaps be something you could suggest to your physio? Just thinking of something that is gentle on the joints.
I'm just stopping by to say hello, nice to see some new faces, and familiar ones back too. I didn't officially do the challenge in 2016, clothes buying isn't really too much of a problem with me, except when I travel with work to the US and sometimes get the opportunity to shop. I have bought a lot (relatively speaking) doing that, esp in outlets, I really do need to try and not buy any more jeansapart from that, I don't buy a lot (Mav I'm not counting tikiboo habits before you say anything
) but I will try and be mindful when purchasing.
One thing I'm wondering is whether I'll need new trainers, my current ones have done two half marathons, plus the associated training and I have another half coming up in March. Can't quite remember how often you're supposed to replace them.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I've read that it's recommended to replace them every 500 miles, but this depends on what you run on and how heavy your strike is, I replace mine a lot sooner than that because I am a heavier runner.
I once took my old shoes to a running shop when I was replacing them and there are some tips the staff showed me to know when to replace the shoes.
If you lift up the sole and can make a big indentation in the foamy bit underneath then they could do with replacing. Another tip is if the outer rubber by the heel looks 'wrinkled' then that's another sign, and finally if you can bend back the toes towards the laces by a fair bit then they definitely need to go.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Hello to all the newbies, so great to have you along! I always notice how many people have read the thread and yet there only seemed to be about a dozen people posting! So if anyone is out there not sure whether to take the plunge and join in this year, GO FOR IT!! The more the merrier. I am sure there are lots of people who buy things they don't need, just to scratch the shopping itch, or because it was a 'bargain'. And having to add it up over the year IS scary. Especially when you have spent a fortune and still think you have nothing to wear...
I was slightly saved from myself in the Sales by M*S only shipping part of my order but taking the full amount of money - then telling me the rest was out of stock... ha ha, serves me right!
KerriGT, good to hear from you again, I was thinking swimming might be a plan too. Have come up with a weight loss idea with my mum, we are going to support each other and weigh ourselves on Mondays, and save what we would have spent at a club weekly. We have dieted together before so know what works for us, and she will help me meal plan as that's where it all falls down for me. She won't let me off the hook that's for sure, and she is quite focussed so usually loses quite easily, which I am hoping will motivate me! First weigh in tomorrow!
So many clothes in my wardrobe that I can't fit into. It is such a waste!Fashion on the Ration 2020 - 5/66 spent0 -

Hi Nannyg
You are number 26.
Budget book sounds like a good idea, I just scribble things in a diary.

I didn't participate in the challenge thread much last year, but whilst that was partly down to me neglecting most challenge threads (bad me!) it was also down to me only spending on a very few clothing items (all now reported in the 2016 thread).
I'm in again for 2017, and am hoping to have as little to report this time around. As such I'm giving myself the same rules....
No budget, but restrictions on what I can buy
Bras (back to seriously trying to shift some weight tomorrow, and with very few that fit properly now that situation is only going to get worse!)
Running shoes (if the ones I have become unfit for use which is quite probable given they've already done more than the recommended mileage - just depends on whether I actually get my training properly restarted)
Walking boots (if the ones I have become unfit for use - unlikely this year as I have a few well worn pairs that do for shorter easy walks as well as the pair I bought in 2016)
Can't think of anything else I'm likely to need, but will allow replacements for anything that wears out / no longer fits where I really, really don't own anything else that will do as a replacement.
Best of luck everyoneCheryl0 -
Cw18- well done. It sounds like you are at the point I'd like to get to where My buying is based more on need than want.2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0
