I suspect that "New" & "Useless" is the future.
In The Olden Days I was far more productive, because I knew how to do the things that I do all the time, and I was used to how things were.
Now I find that I have to unlearn things that I used to do quickly, and try and find them buried in "new" "improved" menus.
It took me months to realise that a few tiny blue horizontal stripes meant "click here for the menu" with Microsoft's "better" products.
Some developers recognise this, and give you options to keep the screen layout of your favourite version (usually 3) rather than have to learn version 10. It is only a skin after all.
Oh how I miss the days when I got "wages" every week in a brown envelope, and I could pay the electric bill at the MEB shop on a Saturday. If I needed to "put money in the bank" there was a building on the High Street that I went into at dinner time and shuffled along a queue.
Every single thing in the world was better in The Olden Days:(
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Actually, I just tried to pay off my £5 credit card balance, and all springs shot out with "The receiving bank is unable to accept your payment" and other dire messages.
Eventually after much consternation and clicking everywhere, I realised that the £5 balance is in credit! Not a mistake I would have made under the "old" "worser" system...........I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Really? Do you genuinely think that?
Admittedly I am not that old so cannot compare, but there are so many things these days that I perceive as being better. The ability to pay someone instantly a large amount of money must be better than giving them a cheque which took days to clear or trudging down to the bank to withdraw a large sum which you then had to walk with, potentially on your own (on the flipside, internet criminals are also a threat, admittedly).0 -
I thought the original post was complaining about the new style website that is difficult to navigate around and basically not user friendly and not about whether it is better to revert back to the oldern days?
Compunded wih lower interest rates, an overseas call centre that has a poor understanding of English, 6 weeks to resolve a simple query and then the changes to the website is enough to make any one look elsewhere for better service.0 -
Is it just me that is a luddite, or is the "new" "better" online banking website quite the worst thing that you have ever experienced (that doesn't say Microsoft on it)?
There use to be a "luddite" button to go back to the "old" "worser" page, but that has disappeared.
The "old" "worser" system was approximately 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times better than this rubbish. It might be "ok" on an iphone, but it isn't on a PC.
It's like they made a list of all the useful features, like seeing a summary of all your accounts, and the best part of a months transactions, with separate debit and credit columns, and made sure that they were removed.
HSBC are rooted in the dark ages. For ages they had that stupid Fast Balance app, what a pile of s**t that was. I transferred to Barclays as I was sick of waiting for HSBC to introduce a fully functioning app. Their website was ok, just ok. In total contrast Barclays are cutting edge, their website and iPhone/iPad apps leave nothing to be desired.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

Disagree about the fast balance app, useful for the purpose it serves. As for the HSBC app itself, I agree that it is poor. Lloyds Banking Group apps are far better, as is Santander (be even better when they embrace fingerprint login).0 -

The old HSBC website certainly needed updating as it hadn't changed at all since it was first launched over 10 years ago but the new one looks like it is a work in progress. There are a some good things about it but has the feeling of style over substance.
The HSBC mobile app has improved recently but is still behind other banks. I find Nationwide (where I have my ISA and "spare" bank account) the easiest to use.0 -
your internet banking is down and I am trying to add funds between accounts so that I don't get charged.0

Better off tweeting them, they won't see this as it's not HSBC!!0 -
So I have a current account and credit t card with HSBC, I've recently tried tho close the current account and been told that I cannot close it as my credit card can only accept direct debits payments from an HSBC account!
I'm not concerned as my credit card has a zero balance and is only used in an emergency, but it seems a bit underhand.Chin up, Titus out.0
