I was aware of the the difference - we have more than our fair share of Ulster people in Scotland.

The point of the thread, much like one a few days ago, is that TSB advertise local banking for Britain not the UK.

Another British person who doesn't know the difference between Northern Ireland and Ulster! ;)

So Ulster and Northern Ireland are not the same thing, and Northern Ireland is not a Province - despite British politicians endlessly referring to it as one.

Meath is one of the twelve counties in Leinster. :)

It was historically the fifth central province though, sometimes written as mide?

Always struggle with the Irish alphabet, it doesn't look logical from a Welsh perspective.

Britain is a colloquial term for the UK (and British Isles), not Great Britain

On their website they say ' 580 branches across the U.K.'

Works both ways though. I live in England and was visiting Belfast in October. I was very interested in a Danske Bank Reward current account which pays out £7 a month - I was prevented from doing so because I don't live in Northern Ireland. Even walking into a branch didn't help. At least you could have got your TSB account if you could have visited a branch.

    My neighbourhood shop has:

    1 branch across my city.
It also has 1 branch across the 'U.K.' too.
It also has 1 branch across the European Union at the same time.

    No, just very alien.

Not as bad as English obviously, which isn't really a language at all, but a motley collection of German with a chunk of French and everything else nicked from every language imaginable.
