Why can't your husband go to the bank? Surely if you suffer from agoraphobia, he would be a signatory on your accounts?
  • I didn't think there was any protection for buyers paying by bank transfer, but this buyer has managed to get the Halifax to freeze someone's account and investigate. Seems a bit OTT.

Hi I'm looking for advice I sold a Nintendo 3ds on sphock the buyer paid by bank transfer my husband posted by normal post instead of tracked the buyer is now saying he hasn't recieved it & has told my bank halifax I've committed fraud? They have frozen all my 3 accounts
Oh dear. Unless you have proof of posting, then you have lost out that £45. Lesson learned. I suspect it did arrive, but maybe it really didn't.
Seems VERY ODD that the bank have frozen multiple accounts. I could understand if they froze that one payment in case of chargeback. Get your bank to explain themselves to you fully.

Could it be that the account was frozen due to suspicious activity on the buyers account, and receiving money from that account has triggered money laundering checks ?
  • Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed how much is that these days... £6? would of saved you alot of hassle had you added this to the purchase price.

Would it though, wouldn't stop they buyer from contacting their bank to make a report for fraud. If a dishonest buyer wanted to they could say the seller shipped an empty box, or a fake 3ds

Perhap a better solution would have been to use something not directly connected to your bank, eg paypal, which would be less hassle if frozen(although paypal tend to side with buyer, so money would be lost)

I thought paypal had to be linked to your bank in order to send money once it has been recieved nor would you be able to transfer it as its not linked to an account

You don't have to link it to a bank account, credit card will do.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

I am surprised the buyer has done this £45 for a 3ds is a bargain, I have been looking and can't find a secondhand one for less than £120.

I didn't know people could do this with bank transfers especially over such a small amount. Other protection doesn't kick in until its over £100.
  • Why not just open an account elsewhere, and use 7-day switching to take your business to a bank that won't screw you about.
