Hot water slowing to a dribble

We have a mixer tap at our kitchen sink. Over recent months when the hot water tap is turner on water has been coming out at a slower and slower dibble and is now so slow that virtually no water is coming through. Cold water from the mains is fine.
Any suggestions what can be causing this? A plumber visited, said he couldn't help and didn't return.
Getting desperate now.

Water coming from a tank0

washer on the tap is screwed and is not opening properly.0
-
stopcock broken? i say this because mine just did exactly the same and that's what the problem was0

Has the end of the tap got a filter screwed on it,If so may be scaled up0

I bet the handle for the hot tap only opens less than a full turn ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
No, tap handle has full movement. It's just that there's hardly any water coming out. There's a black spray cap at the end of the moveable mixer arm with tiny little spray holes in it but it's tightly wedged in and I can see no way of getting it out to see if it's limescaled up.
Have tried to put some limescale remover on it and will leave overnight to see if that makes any difference but as it faces downwards I expect it will all drip off.0 -
Is the hot water fine from all other taps?0

hot water taps in both tBathroom basins rather slow a little slow to be honest but taps are over 25 years old. Cold taps running OK.0

Have they slowed in line with the kitchen tap?
I am trying to find out if it as problem with the tap or a problem with the supply. If the taps in the bathroom have always been slow but have not slowed down any more then it is likely to be a tap. If the they have slowed along with the kitchen then it is likely to be a problem with pipework before the bathrooms/kitchen.0
