Delivery packaging spoilt surprise :(

Options
Managed to get the wife a pair of boots that is sold out in most places as a xmas gift.

Item arrives and all over the packaging is 'shoetique'.

Wife "oooh! You got me some new boots then?".

Not the end of the world, but was hoping to keep it a surprise.

Decided it was time to have a year subscription to English Heritage so bought it. thought it would be a good xmas pressie so got it for her expecting it to be sent to me. Luckily I picked up the post, which was addressed to her, so was able to sneak it away before she saw it. Probably my own fault asking for it to be a pressie.

I think you will find that it was a surprise but just sooner than you had hoped?

Happened last year when OH bought me some goodies from Lush, it arrived with Lush written all over the packaging and when only I was home. Now we get things delivered to relatives instead

Friend bought his wife's present from Argos this year. He's a bit of a technophobe so when asked for an email address to send the receipt provided the joint one.
She knew what she'd got for Christmas before his number had been called :D:D

My Mum has a habit of listing exactly what is in the box on her MyHermes parcel booking. And then she gives my email as a contact for delivery. I've had to learn to ignore it ... In return I just describe her parcel as "gifts of low value" ;)

It is a big problem now as we all shop online so much.

When buying from Ebay I have a preference for sellers that offer the free 'ship to a local Argos' option. Its ideal for secret pickups, they are open longer than the Royal Mail depot (and quicker than the sloths down there), more parking etc.

Sometimes you can have Amazon to a click and collect point at a local shop, again good.

Recently I ordered a laptop as a Christmas present for my daughter, it came in no packaging at all apart from the HP fully printed box with a label on, fortunately I was in and she wasn't.

On the other side the coin, we often take parcels in for neighbours and it is interesting to read the labels ;)
  • My OH bought me something for my birthday from ebay. As it happened, the woman selling it lived very local, so rather than post it she popped round with it. OH was out, I answered the door - she handed me the parcel and told me exactly what was in it.

It was indeed just what I'd always wanted - but it was such a shame that the surprise was spoilt.

The shop where I work is now a pick up point for a parcel delivery company. Anyone of us does both giving the parcel to the customer and accepting the delivery and sorting out the parcels. Some of the clients (online retailers) put the contents on the address label.
Which is annoying for the customer if they ask their OH to pick it up if it's their present or, like yesterday, having my head filled with horror when the woman picking up parcel was so pig ugly - wouldn't seen out of place on Jeremy Kyle - her parcel contained nipple tassels.

The colleague that put the delivery of parcels which contained the above parcel, saw me handing the parcel, came up to me a couple of mins later and asked was it the nipple tassels. Said yes. Colleague recognized the packaging with red and pink.
