Refunded for cancelled flight by lastminute.com

Just wanted to share a good experience, so that others know it is possible.
I booked a one way flight from the UK to NZ, via skyscanner then through lastminute.com. The airline itself was Emirates.
4 days later I found I needed to cancel that flight. I expected to get nothing back. I rang lastminute.com and requested information regarding cancelling, they said they would put in a request for a cancellation due to personal reasons (as they have to contact the individual airline) and get back to me via email.
3 days later I got an email offering me a 85% refund! I had 73 hours to respond, which I did, and now have the refunded money back in my account, the lost 15% totally my responsibility.
So, it's always worth asking, just in case!

Emirates is in many ways an excellent airline, and they tend to be more flexible than most of their competitors. It is them you should thank rather than LastMinute, who will have simply passed on the refund that the airline made (after deducting their charge).0
