Getting a better deal out of SKY

I have Sky broadband only for £17.50 all inc. Its not that great round the house unless your sat next to the router. I don't want TV package or anything else, just cheaper.
Anyone been able to get them to reduce the broadband only cost?

You say broadband only then add 'inc' so I assume that by 'only' you mean without tv.
If this is so then line rental alone is £17.40, so you are getting free broadband.0 -
still would like it cheaper0

I left, as I was only offered that after a year of half price line and free broadband. However, since the £5 increase on the combination price (they've all taken advantage ) it looks a much better deal.0

I think there should be a law that says price has to include line rental as £17.40 sounds like extortion unless they allow you to rent a line from another supplier.0

You mean a law similar to one introduced on the 31st of October this year?

sounds a good idea as when broadband was first introduced it was common for people to have a bt line but a different internet provider but if you are forced to take line rental then they will often inflate it to get a low price for internet - my provider charges £10 for line rental as they like transparent pricing but some internet providers market based on a low headline price0 -

It's a brilliant idea (I don't think), as the new law has resulted in an average rise of £5 in the total cost of broadband and line.
All companies have to give an all in price, now and all because some stupid people complained, saying they were being conned by ads such as ones offering ADSL for £5 then adding that line rental was required at £15. The irony being that if they had been conned , they would not be aware of the actual cost.
Before : ADSL £5. Line £15
Now : Line and ADSL £25. Line £15.
What has been gained, except a price rise ?0
