I was in Bulgaria a few years ago on a two-centre holiday. This entailed one week in Sunny Beach and the second at Pamporovo in the mountains. We enjoyed this second week better than the first. Even so there was one guy on the holiday who was always moaning, in fact we christened him "Charley Chuckles". One of his classic moans was during the mountain holiday, when he complained there was "too much countryside, and not enough built-up areas"
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Looking forward to the Bulgarian Night tonight, I bet some folk would be saying "I hope they don't serve any of that Bulgarian muck there"
Quite right too, burger and chips, John Smiths Taste-free beer, Karaoke, and finish with Agadoo and the Birdie Song. That's a PROPER Bulgarian night, much better than all this so-called Bulgarian stuff.:D ;)

I get the impression that the only thing that makes some people happy is that they can spend every waking moment of their life scrutinising for fault and then moaning about it. I am waiting for the long queue of vents about £9.50 holidays from The Sun newspaper .. you know 'I had to carry my own luggage to the caravan' ... 'we were not allowed to flush toilet paper' etc.

You hear all the usual complaints, no sun, the sun was too hot, the food was too hot, the food was too cold, the AI did not include my favourite drink I get at home, nowhere nearby served Emglish pub grub, the beach was miles away (usually a description of 100 yards), there were ants/lizards in my room.

A couple of my favourite moans though are (both allegedly true)
    - a woman who boarded a cruise ship and then went straight down to the pursers desk to complain that she had ordered a room with an ocean view and all she could see was the quayside ... doh!
    - a man who complained about the noise that kept him and his wife awake at all hours of the night ... upon investigation it was his own sons in the room next door.

One other complaint that came to mind was in Costa Rica when we went to visit the Poas volcano .. the bus took us up into the mountains and forests, past coffee plantations, we went across the 'OhMyGod' bridge, we then hiked for about half a mile until we arrived at the view point looking out over the crater ... that is when we found out why it was called a 'cloud forest' .. all we could see was flamin cloud .. most of us found this to be a source of amusement but there was a small group of people demanding their money back (and the more people laughed at them the more angrier they were getting).

One of them tried to get me on-side and he got all grumpy because I told him it sort of reminded me of the scene in Fawlty Towers when Basil asks if the women expected to see herds of Wildebeast from her window.

6 I think it should be explained in the brochure that the local store does not sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts. :rotfl:

Our electricity went off in Turkey last year for about 15 minutes (I found it to quite novel) but one bloke spent the entire time screaming at the poor bloke who was trying to fix it

I suppose it would be churlish to observe that the OP was actually a 'complaint'!!!!

But at least it brought out the Thomas Cook quotes - very humorous.

lol, never thought of it that way myself!!! Home now but I would definitely head back to where I was if I was to visit Bulgaria again, it was a lovely area. We came through Sunny Beach yesterday and I'm glad I wasnt there, it is just loads of high hotels, much too busy for my liking.

Me and my cast iron stomach (since I'm the only one that hasn't moaned about the food and tried everything they served!) will be writing to First Choice to thank them for the great value holiday I have just been on and the great facilities provided to us all there.

My favourite moans are on https://www.tripadvisor.com. Vegas is always amusing to see the "I lost my shirt in the casino so will find lots of things to moan about" posts.
Having worked for years in travel I've had my share of moans from clients. "You get what you pay for" seems to escape many people. I've always tried to explain to people that if they pay for 3 star they won't get 5 star but will still get good value.
My favourite complainer was the client who had been shouting at the airport about how he worked for the BBC and was going to get the holiday company on Esther Ranzen. I happened to be at the airport in a wheelchair as I'd had a minor accident and he shoved past me in his rage.
A week later he came into the agency I worked in (my heart dropped into my boots-I recognised him and realised I'd booked his holiday !) and told me he wanted to complain. I recounted back to him what had happened at the airport-his face was a picture (I think he thought the holiday company had complained about HIM) and then dealt with his complaints-pointing out a family room for 4 people would be cramped (and showed him in his brochure where it warned they were) and gently suggested that if he'd used the sick bags provided on the coach for his carsick granddaughter or asked the coach to stop he wouldn't have been charged £5 cleaning cost when she had a "spillage". I told him I agreed the rep had been short with him at the airport and sympathised and I would gladly put in a complaint about that.
He refused-told me I'd explained it all perfectly and he was happy !!!
The raging bull left the agency a lamb-and even came back and booked for the following year LOL
