Virgin Media - Moved - Email Problem - Help please!

My partner has been with VirginMedia for a long time. He has an NTLWorld.com email address that he uses for his business (he's self employed).
He recently moved in with me and I am in an area that is not served by Virgin Media and they told him he couldn't keep his email address when he moved to his new address (mine).
He spoke to a helpful person at Virgin who told him that it would be possible to keep his email address if he could find another Virgin Media customer who was willing to host it for him under their account and another friend of mine is a Virgin Media customer and has offered to do it.
Does anyone know the process or know how he can do it? Obviously, he can't phone Virgin because he technically isn't still a customer.
Any ideas?
