Connect the washing machine waste pipe to nozzle pointing left. Before connecting put a jubilee clip around the pipe. Tighten this when the pipe is in place.

Thanks but what I meant was, just checking thats the waste pipe, and I guess the cold water attachment is behind the sink as well (person who showed me around said there is)

As I say may sound like I have zero knowledge but need to learn somehow!

Thanks, it was more the wording that confused me, and I found the Y connector I thought I had.

So to be clear the actual water pipe (not the attachment for the sink drain where waste pipe attaches to) I attach the y connector then the hoses.

May seem im stupid but get confused with certain wording!
  • ^ The y connector is for mains water to supply the machine and not for the waste pipe. In the above picture the copper pipe at the bottom is the mains water supply and the two rubber hoses at the top are the hot and cold connectors leading to the washing machine.

If the sink at your new place has a waste water connection like the one you linked to, if it is a brand new installation you may need to cut a little bit off the end of the connnection for it to be open, before you connect the pipe.

If it has already been used, do not let any water down the sink till you have either connected the machine waste pipe, or sealed off the end of the connection point.

Whoever lived there before may not have bothered to seal up the end, and if it is left open you will get a cupboardful of water first time you use the sink.
