  • Even the other car buyers featured in the programme were less than intelligent, buying complex cars at rock bottom prices and expecting them to be perfect. No doubt the dealers are dodgy but due diligence by the buyers is always part of a deal.

Thing is the complaints from viewers were valid and serious, and referred to quite expensive cars, yet the car they buy is a £500 cheapie?

You pay £500 to a dealer you get a wreck. Especially if that £500 car is a VW. Anything decent would be at least double the price.

Agreed, you wouldn't get a particularly good Ford KA for that. Why the heck they thought a VW Polo for £500 would be anything more than total crap is a joke.
  • Watchdog lost any credibility they may have had when they caught that motorcyclist signing on when on their payroll.

I like some of what Watchdog do, but they have to be careful when they target businesses.

It's not ideal, but there really isn't an alternative if you're going to catch someone in the act.

I guess one positive about buying a £500 banger is that it's just a £500 banger; that wouldn't pay for one minute of a typical prime-time show.

    Trick them into what?

Well, making the mistake which ultimately exposes them to the world.

As I said, tricky.... it doesn't sound as though the dealer in this episode was much in the wrong. £500 doesn't get you much.... well, maybe an old Metro, but then they'd probably complain that it had rust
