Talk Talk incompetence

Hi everyone

Normally I just read the threads and have garnered much information from here so time to share.

I know some people have asked have Talk Talk improved, well here's my experience.

Was with Talk Talk, line rental paid up front when i moved house.

All information entered onto website, move date, new address etc.

Had to start a new 18 month contract for moving, surely that's not fair?

Day of connection I get home thinking 'Yay internet' as i'd been without for two weeks.

Phone line working, Able to make calls. But no broadband.

Rang there support line, that's an experience. Line tests commence, tell me it could be my router, or micro filter. They can't access router so engineer booked two weeks hence.

Day of the appointment, day booked off work. Waiting... Waiting.... Phone Call on land line

Engineer "I'm outside your house but there's no answer"

Look out of the window, "Erm, no you're not'

E: 'yes i am' Proceeds to give me address details of old address

Now the old address is in a different city, with a different dialing code, when i asked him if this didn't raise any flags he said he thought i may have taken my number with me!!

So more fun with Talk Talk support. Who kindly told me I wouldn't be charged for engineer visit :rotfl: Asked to verify my new address four times. They seem to know it when they send the bill.

New Engineer viisit arranged a week and a half hence.

Day of visit, Yay he's arrived. In and out within 10 minutes, no problems with my equipment. Could have told them that lol. So Openreach engineer visit booked.

Day of Openreach visit. Phone call received.

OR Engineer "Have you recently moved to talk talk?.
me ' No but i've just moved house and transferred the service'
OR 'It's probably the previous occupants had fibre and they'll have left the jumpers on at the exchange. I'll check and see you within the hour.'

40 minutes later the OR engineer is at my door, I can see the broadband light lit, I have internet :)

The OR engineer did change my phone socket whilst there to give himself something to do as the problem had been fixed without the necessity of a visit to my house.

So by going for Talk Talk and trying to save money it cost me

Two days off of work, these days were being saved to take of between xmas/NY and i'll now have to work :(
Extra data for my phone as used my allotted allowance due to no wifi.
a new microfilter (support line suggested if this was found to be at fault i'd be charged for engineers visit so thought it prudent)

All they had to do when connecting my Broadband was check what the status of the previous service was and none of this would have occurred.

I've now got a reminder on my phone for when my contract is up as i'll never use them again.

Sorry for the long tale but take heed if you're thinking of using Talk Talk

Its normal with ISP you could have paid the existing contract off and been free to chose a new ISP .
