I learned today that the new 4G sim only deals by Virgin DO NOT include 0845 numbers in your free minutes allowance. This may not be news to some mobile customers, but could come as an expensive surprise to some moving from 3G to 4G with Virgin. I should state that I don't know if this applies to any other network operators

  • I'm not sure that any of the bundled minutes include 084/087 type numbers, in many instances these have become very expensive.

You are better off ditching any companies/organisations that fleece their customers with these numbers.

Don't forget http://www.saynoto0870.com/ lists many alternatives.
  • My existing 3G package gives me inclusive 0845 in the free minutes. I suppose it depends on your view for the worth of 4G against your call usage

Virgin's sim only plans above £8 pm included call's to all 08 numbers

Methinks you mean "bundle". They aren't "free".

Their current plans don't include 084x or 087x numbers.

Usage of premium rate 084, 087 and 09 numbers is effectively banned for customer services, financial services and public services. Most organisations have swapped to inclusive 03 numbers or to free-to-caller 080 numbers.

Unless you call chatlines, vote on TV shows, etc, there should be almost no need to call premium rate numbers starting 084, 087 or 09.
