Mice proofing cable

I'm having a chest freezer delivered next week which is to be kept in the small barn attached to the house.
Until I can get an electrician to put in a new socket at the back of the barn I'm going to have to use an extension lead to the sockets at the front of it. Temporary measure, hopefully only until after the New Year.
There are mice in the barn, I control them with blue bait balls, however I'm worried in case they chew the cable and cause damage. Is there a way of casing the cable to protect it?
I've got a sonic device in the house, perhaps another one for the barn is the way forward.
I'd appreciate advice on this. Thanks.

How long is the cable, and could you run it through some 15mm copper or other metal casing?0

It'll be about 7-8 metres from freezer to wall. And I don't know...is that what can be done? Not sure how I'd get it in.
I was hoping to hear about some wrap-around type casing which would suffice, something like tubing which is split all the way down to get the electric cable through and which could be gaffer taped up the split.0 -

Just buy some cheap, thick trunking and make sure the ends are seal properly with cut pieces of plastic, siliconed in place. Also keep it away from the wall if you can as mice prefer to run around the edge of a room.0

I agree with above "thick trunking" anything else mice will chew through in no time.0

That looks like the answer! Thanks. I know that if kept long enough the mice will chew on the plastic but hopefully it'll only be in place for about a month or six weeks or so.Just buy some cheap, thick trunking and make sure the ends are seal properly with cut pieces of plastic, siliconed in place. That round stuff would stand up to mouse attacks if they decide they want to chew it.
This would last a bit better:

Or this would be the best option:

Phil, looked at that before the other stuff. Great for a permanent installation, and I hope the OPs electrician protects the wiring with galvanized conduit of some description. But a bit overkill for a few weeks to protect an extension lead ...0

Not at £20-30 quid its not! It's only a little more expensive than the tubing.0
