question ,
does your ign switch have an "auxiliary" position , this is between the off and the ing on , a lot of cars that had "cigar" lighters would provide power to light your cigar whilst in this position
auxiliary or not?Save a Rachael

Leave the engine running, seriously at this time of year the more often your starting the vehicle for short journeys, the more likely you are find a flat battery one morning.
Catchment areas for most schools constitutes a short journey.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

yes it does but I fear if being in that position for 30 mins it will drain the battery0 -
it will not drain the battery , in the aux position it (the switch) ONLY feeds items that are connected to that "pin" on the switch
the aux position does not feed your ignition , lights or anything else apart from things that are connected to it , it was designed to feed cig lighters and radios , WITHOUT draining the battery because the ign was on.
many yrs ago in the days of points and condenser in , the ignion coil could be burnt out if the points were closed , hence having an auxillery position on the switch
has you car got a cig lighter socket , that you run your sat nave from or charge your phone ? does this become live when you switch to auxilery?Save a Rachael

Why do so many idiots post on here!
You stated in post #1 that the radio does not work unless the ignition is on and now finally admit in post #25 that it does actually work with the switch in the accessory position - perhaps RTFM before asking next time.

I have a peugeot 208 and there is no aux position. The ignition has to be on or the engine running for radio or aux power socket to work which for an ECO car like mine does not make sense.
I did find it annoying but I am starting to enjoy the silence why I am waiting in the car on the school run.0 -

Yes there is no aux position, when you switch the ignition to off the radio will go off but if you then press the volume knob, it will come on again. If you press while the engine is running, it will mute the sound.0 -
