Happy New Year to you as well. Do you worry about slipping on the ice when you run?0
-
haha no i never run early early morning these days for that reason. Last winter i did a run home from work and slipped on black ice and went over on my ankle. Three weeks later and a week on crutches never again.
I have a new running partner by the look of it too :-) my friend from school runs (ie my lady friend) runs too she came with me yesterday and we did a 7 miler.
She has just got back into running and asked if she could come with me once a week. We are dating still and look like new running buddies too. :-)
I am feeling less and less alone which is good, over new year it was horrible as i spent most of it bar the 30th alone. Hence the training a lot.

That's brilliant! Having a partner that does those kinds of things with you makes the relationship so much more fun.0 -
Hi Scott - I used to lurk on your previous diary - was very envious that you had huskies! Have subscribed now.
Sorry that everything has been so topsy turvey for you lately but you sound very positive now and have picked yourself up marvellously.

ohhhhhh re running tips only thing i can advise is 4-5 good ones
1) baby steps increase distances really slow
2) go too a proper running shop and get a get analysis done re buying shoes, i spent 18months with blistering issues, achilles issues, no thanks too new shoes that fit right all are gone. spending 20-30 quid on running shoes is fine but once your running 3-4 miles plus yeeeeeeeeeeeeee no.
3) buy a good running watch tom tom do some good ones for 50-60 quid
4) hydrate well pre a run
5) if you can run with a reliable partnerCashback Earnings YTD £46.04 Survey Earnings YTD £182.66

I've run on and off for the past 6/7 years, not great distances and I've done a couple of 5k races in the past. I've always done some sort of gym/classes type thing though.
Last year I finally decided that I don't really like running, particularly outside so I stopped feeling guilty and I just don't do it. I run on the treadmill at my gym, do Zumba, spinning, weights and very long hill walking. I'm 48 in February so I know it's not ideal for your joints as you get older. My OH is really into his fitness though and I did feel a lot of pressure off him.
Glad you've found a running buddy - it's great for motivation.0 -

Dreading a thirteen this week but he said i need too jump up from 11.85 or i will behind schedule a tiny bit.Cashback Earnings YTD £46.04 Survey Earnings YTD £182.66
