Best way to clean my driveway

Hi
I have a tarmac drive, which has a lot of moss growing on it. Is there a good way to clean the moss off?

Thanks
:)

Best thing is to try and kill the moss off first with a moss killer for hard surfaces otherwise you're likely to spread it. - I used to use Armillatox but it's only licensed for use in the UK as an "outdoor cleaner" now( ;) ).
Try and kill the moss with repeated applications and then sweep the dead stuff away. - The roots are remarkably invasive and can break up surfaces - particularly if frosted. You'll probably need regular applications to keep it in check.
  • Use a mixture of Domestos and water, brush on and leave overnight. Clean driveway with a powerjet such as Karsher. Will look as new.

If using a power washer on tarmac with a coarse finish watch the pressure isn't too high. (I speak from experience - fortunately we were able to disguise the break up with an overhanging plant).

I agree, be careful with a pressure washer on tarmac, it can break up.

aye the pressure washer is ok on slabs etc..., but on tarmac make sure you keep your jet a bit distant from the surface.

Hi all sorry to tack my question onto yours but it is related. We had a lot of moss on our drive and my partner was advised to use sulphate of iron by the man in our locl big garden centre as "this is what the expensive stuff is anyway" It got rid of the moss fine but now the drive has horrible brown patches where the moss was which look ten times worse! The drive is tramac. Does anyone have any advice - any help much appreciated.

Depending upon the size of your drive you could paint it with bitumastic paint - diluted further with white spirit to achieve better coverage. Problem is you have to do the whole drive otherwise you'll still end up with a different coloured appearance.
