Bread and milk!!!!

Does anyone here know why half the people i've just seen in my local supermarket are stocking up on crazy amounts of highly perishable foods?

I know it happens every year, perhaps it's what inspired Albert Einsteins definition of insanity.

You can freeze both bread and milk but I do agree the frenzy to buy food because supermarkets are closed for one day at Christmas can be OTT.
  • I'm finding Aldi pretty unbearable at the moment. The shelves are empty loads, the place is packed at all times of the day with people stocking up on tons of food. I know it is Christmas but I can't buy some of my everday essentials.

The staff are working as quick as they can. I see this being the downfall of the 'budget' supermarkets.

The one saving grace is that Aldi have been operating more tills which means no queues at the checkouts.

I don't know why some people go crazy every year to a. through a lot of it away (unless they freeze it) and b. to run up a debt which quite a few of them will still be paying off this time next year.

Supermarkets only close (by law) for two days of the year-I'd dread to think what it'd be like if they told us there was going to be Armageddon!

The shops should shut on Boxing Day in my opinion, but alas that stopped about 20 years ago.

Perhaps someone knows about a forth coming Apocalypse.

    Only joking. :D

Sure it wasn't people stocking up Xmas parties?

I was in Waitrose just over 3 weeks ago. Staff reported to me that they had one of the busiest weekends and could not figure out why.

Neither could I. Was after Nov 5 and Halloween, no major sport or national event. Go figure !

When i use to work Days on the cab, you'd be sitting on the rank outside Asda and women would come with overflowing trolleys of food, then say ...... i only went in there for a loaf.

I can remember asking my Mum why she bought so much stuff at this time of year and her answer was always ........... in case anyone comes.
But Mum, nobody ever comes !!!

Or maybe people are having their family round to visit

My mums house, normally just her and Dad, at Christmas there is 6 of us sometimes.

My in-laws have 18 people for Christmas some years.

The extra people will probably want bread and milk!

Or maybe they are all making bread and butter pudding!

you should never feed hedgehogs milk as it causes very bad diarrhoea, and they can't digest bread properly so causing other stomach trouble. Many die because of feeding them this.
