ADVICE NEEDED
I am considering taking out a loan to pay off all my debts and mortgage somewhere on this site there was a forum that gave advice but I can't find it now.DF by 2023 No 17 £1,644 /£6000 Total debt £18,000 at the start of DFW Journey. 201814TH JULY 2021 DEBT FREE now in control365 1p challenge No 490 -
Blackberrycurved, I have gone down the consolidation loan route more than once and it rarely works, that's what I have learnt from this site. You are doing so well paying off, why not just carry on rather than taking out a new line of credit which I can only imagine will be a higher interest rate than your mortgage??:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

Hi KirstyPoos
My Morgage is at 6% it's old and fixed and I was locked in forevever I owe 7k and pay £309 a month. Ends Sept 2019.
I have a loan locked at 5% £1218 @ £136 a month ends July 2018
and CCs total £2792 which I pay £40 or a bit more off a month and I can't see ever ending.
I can get a loan for 11k @ 2.8% fixed for 3 years for £319 a month only £10 more and I'll be £200 a month better off unless I'm missing something which is why I'm trying to double check. I could add the CCs and loan to the morgage but they won't do it for less than 10k and say it would be as a new mortgage so about £800 in admin. I tried to move the mortgage a few years ago no one wants a small sum I could have moved it if I'd have borrowed another 25k for house improvements - yep right? I've also reached the point where I can't cut back anymore and pay more off. If I don't get my windows outside painted soon I'll be looking at @0 odd thousand for new windows. I need a new bath and some decorating and I need it because I want to rent out 2 spare bedrooms which will fetch me about £500 a month. On top of which I could do with a decent car not a flash one and I can't afford a loan but just one that'll get me up and down the motorway to work, that should improve my income by £400 a month. I have 2 overdrafts of £1700 each which kill me in charges but since my fellah died I just don't earn enough to pay everything so I juggle money around. I don't spend anything on going out or anything other than food so I'm trying to think of other ways out of it. What is the Early Repayment Charge on your mortgage?
It sounds like you have thought it all out well, as long as you know where you got into trouble before it could work - my problem was that I got a consolidation loan, paid off the credit cards with it then ran up the CCs again. As long as you cancel your cards and overdraft, and think it is the best way forward for you?:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)

It's been a while since I've been on here, but checking in with an update. Great to read of others hitting their debt free targets, and I'm not far off now. Had some big bills over the past few months - had to pay for the next academic year of my masters which went on the credit card, but have been working lots of overtime and things are back under control. Signature represents what is left to go. I lost track of all the charges to my Barclaycard credit card, so I've just zero'd it as of today for the totals. Student loan paid off this month - that'll be a nice chunk of change back.
So, it's the final straight. Got a car MOT and service to get through next month, but lots of overtime banked again this month, so should be able to get another grand off hopefully. 3 months to finally get myself sorted. Determined to start 2018 debt free - what an awesome thought!
