Non fault accident - insurers confusing me!
Hi guys,
On Sunday I was clipped by a guy switching lanes without looking and have since lodged a non fault claim.
My insurer, Admiral, asked if I wanted to:
A) claim on the polocu
Or:
claim using one a partner of theirs (Auxillis) for which the claim IS NOT against the policy and there's no excess to pay etc as this company will take the risk (given the incidents's clear cut) in claiming against the third party's insurance. These guys will ONLY allow me to have my vehicle repaired at one of their pre approved garages and offer me a 'hire credit' courtesy car (whatever that means).
I chose option B....
However... Since then, I have since been chased by the third party's insurer (Co-Op) who are also asking me to claim through THEM, touting this route also would NOT affect my policy and I can take it to the garage of my CHOICE, and access a comparable 'direct credit' courtesy car for the duration.
Can anyone explain what's happening here and if they have any recommendations based on past experience etc?
Grateful as ever!

Your option B will probably come with a brand new car delivered to you and charged to the 3rd party insurer at an extortionate rate.
If you claim directly then they save a load of money.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Check out "auxilis" here and across the net (also check their previous trading name "albany") - all reviews on both names refer to the same company - and you may want to dismiss that option!!
That's if you can.
If you are able to get out of any arrangement you have made with them, then using the third party insurer is painless!0 -
Sounds like the 3rd party has admitted liability, and has already been said the Co-OP are trying to keep their costs down.
Claims management companies make their money by charging extortionate rates for your car hire, and I would not be surprised if they also did so by using the cheapest repairers they can, so in your shoes I would go with the co-op and have control over who carries out the repairs on my car. You might not get such a flashy hire car but it's the repair of you long term form of transport that matters most.0 -
I agree. The charges these companies rack up are outrageous. If I had another non-fault accident, I would always go to the third-party insurer first. I think I could have hired a similar car for a third of the cost of the accident management company (although theirs was brand new). They are leeches, sucking more money out of an unfortunate situation and insurance companies should be ashamed of themselves for recommending them.Je suis sabot...0

Cheers guys, I've decided, based on your input to cancel with Auxillis (the claim management guys) and instead go with the third party insurer (Co-Op).
They're letting me use the garage of my choosing and a courtesy car which is under "direct credit" (as opposed to "hire credit"), so hopefully the right decision!
Welcome any further feedback and grateful for help thus far!0 -

Careful there is no fee to you for cancelling the instruction.0 -

Not fussed about the courtesy car really, but I did say it would be nice to have a comparable car and he sort of dismissed it.0 -
He was probably wanting to upgrade you from your normal Fiesta to a Mercedes C class. Can't do that if you go comparable.
PS - what's a polocu? Is that a typo and you meant policy?0 -

Looks like an opportunity for Auxillis to abuse his position and do some forbidden promotion??
How does your promotional post "help solve" an issue as you mention in your sig?0
