heathrow to gatwick

Hope someone is able to help. we are flying from Gatwick airport on the 22nd (travelling down on the 21st and staying overnight) of this month, but flying back into heathrow on the 28th. we are looking at driving to heathrow, parking and then making our way down to Gatwick, therefore i am looking at my options
car hire for one dayseems to be a bit pricey there are four adults so we would need a larger car
the bus service seems reasonable but this would drop us at the airport and then we would need to get a taxi from the airport to our hotel again increasing the cost
Taxi seems the most reasonable option and would be able to drop us at our hotel, but whilst researching this i have found that they all seem to have some dodgy reviews (ie not turning up when they should)
I would be interested to hear about anyone's experience of this transfer and any one who could recommend a taxi service or other options
thanks for any help anyone can give

Could you not stay overnight in Heathrow and get the bus to Gatwick next day?0

we have already booked the hotel at gatwick as got a very good deal and as we are flying at 10.00 didnt want the worry of getting stuck in traffic in the morning.0

There was a thread on this very subject a while back so a search may be useful.
National Express run a coach service between Heathrow & Gatwick though0 -
had tried the search but didnt get any relevant results0

Best to rely on public transport: driving home when exhausted after a long flight would be a really bad idea.
Have you asked your hotel at Gatwick whether they are served by a bus, or if not, whether they offer airport transfers?0 -

The only cheap way I've found to do this is to take the bus from Heathrow to East Croydon and then the train from East Croydon to Gatwick but it's a long haul, personally I'd use the National Express direct bus. I wouldn't take too much notice of taxi reviews - who reviews taxis except when they screw up? In any case it'll be the night before so you won't miss your flight if it's late.
Any reason not to park at Gatwick - will probably be cheaper - does the hotel you're staying at have a car park, they might be able to offer you a deal.0 -

I imagine it's so they can just get on their way home instead of faffing trying to get to the other airport just to get the car. Wasting time transferring isn't such a big deal if their plan for the rest of that day is just to get to an airport hotel.
I would guesstimate a taxi transfer between the 2 airports is around £100, and that probably isn't that far off the cost of 4 adults on the national express bus, so a taxi direct to the door of your hotel might be the best bet.
TFL buses would get you there for about £5 each, but would take a long long time,Save £12k in 2019 #360 -
