Hi,
We will be going to America early next year. We will be flying out of Gatwick early afternoon, but landing back at heathrow early morning two weeks later.
Has anyone any good suggestions of the cheapest way/ place to park.
I was thinking park at heathrow so the car is there for the drive home easily.... But what is the cheapest way for 3 of us to get to gatwick N from there ?
Any suggestions greatfully received. ( quotes from taxis were around £350 mark !!)

There's a bus between Heathrow and east Croydon, then a train to Gatwick, or vice versa.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

National Express coach would be £60 for the 3 of youChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Personally, there's no way I'd want to drive anywhere following an early morning arrival from the US. I did it once and was so tired that I took the wrong junction and headed off around the M25 the wrong way but it took me 30 mins to realise. when I fly for work we aren't allowed to drive after long haul flights for "health and safety"0

I don't know what taxi companies you've asked, but I know several companies based near Gatwick and they charge between £60-80 for a Heathrow run. Driving after a cross-Atlantic night flight is not easy, especially long journeys.0

Where do you live? Might help us offer some constructive advice.0

I'd be tempted to look at taking the train.
Both Heathrow & Gatwick are easily accessible by train, we've just used Tesco points to get our train travel for a holiday later in the year and if there's just you and your partner you could get a two together railcard - also using Tesco points.
Would also back the don't underestimate jet lag opinions as well
Edit - must read properly ....as there's 3 of you would a family railcard (which you can also get through Tesco) be applicable?0 -

I'm sure they're both easily accessible by train but I'm not sure I'd use that particular adverb to describe accessibility between the two.
It's not really somewhere I travel between but wouldn't you need to go in and out of central London with the train? or possibly some convoluted route in and out of the 'burbs?Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

I think gettingthere meant ditch the car and take the train instead, in which case they won't need to go between the two
Which is what I would do., but then we don't know where OP lives. Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Unless you live a very long way from London it would be simplest to order a taxi to drop you off at Gatwick and meet your return at Heathrow. Once you add up the parking charges and travel between airports it will come to a tidy sum.
After a long trip across several time zones, being driven home by someone else is a very good option.0 -

When I've been picked up early in the morning after a red-eye flight from the US I've been asleep in the back of the taxi before it has even hit the M25. It also means you can enjoy a final few holiday drinks on the plane without worrying about driving at the other end.0
