I suspect Gerry told Martin to quit. Listening to Martin miller on the radio now, the whole tone has changed.

How much would that cost?
I see what you are saying.
But remember if this was done there would be a very strong possibility that the funding from Treasury would be withdrawn as there would no longer be any "incentive" for renewable heat. All the cost would be bourn by NI.
The NIAO report states there are 2,128 non-domestic applicants and estimate the capital cost at £45k, which makes almost £96m. There are also 2,721 domestic applicants but NIAO don't provide an estimated capital cost for this, but I'm assuming approx. £10k. This makes £27m. And gives a total capital cost of £123m.
The additional cost to NI is currently approx. £20m pa for 20 years = £400m but to compare this to a payment to be made now, you would need to discount this back (ie a £1 today is only worth 98p next year, or 96p the year after etc etc). So this £400m become approx. £320m when discounted back to today's money.
So it would be financially cheaper to pay all capital costs at approx. £123m in one year, as opposed to £320m (ie £20m over 20 years).
But a big cash impact in one year, which could impact services, or borrow from London etc.
That's just an accountant's viewpoint, the solicitor may disagree (ie being able to terminate contracts), the environmentalist may also disagree (ie no government support for renewable energy etc).
[PS If anyone is interested in RHI further, go read the NIAO report, it had all the main issues way before Stephen Nolan).0 -

All right. Cap the payments. Then what?
Circumstances have changed. We can't afford it. It wasn't guaranteed.

And probably not with 5 seats either as the new Assembly will have 5 seats per constituency
Yeah, I remembered that after, but the point still stood so didn't correct myself.
I don't really understand the Sinn Fein strategy on this one. It's like flipping the table over and putting the table and its seats together again with seats in slightly different orders and a few less seats.
I don't see that they will get anything from Westminster and, in fact, might lead to us having to pay water charges etc.0 -

Cant see how the domestic cost is relevant. Its not under scrutiny is it?I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p0 -
If we have an election I do hope the likes of UUP, Alliance and SDLP etc all come together and form a united, tactical campaign against SF and the DUP, who are far too toxic for the progressive people of NI.
People who are disillusioned by DUP and SF MUST vote to change it, 40% of people sit at home and don't vote. If you dont like the !!!!!! in charge, vote against them!
If you dont vote, you have no right to complain because you are part of the problem.0 -
