Best place to buy a Mattress?

Hi everyone

Im I need a new Mattress, Im looking for a good quality pocket sprung king size Mattress for a good price.

I want to try and avoid the expensive rip off shops

I have seen what look like some absolute bargains online but the problem is you cannot test them

Is there anywhere online that is really trust worthy and cheap?

Don't use bedstreet. They sell mattresses that are out of stock and then cancel your order after 3 weeks

We bought our last mattress on ebay, for under £200; 3000-spring, king-size.

Firmness is always a bit subjective when buying online.
  • Online from anywhere that has a good no quibble returns policy.

Some people will say you should try them in a shop but honestly lying on a bed for 15 minutes is no guarantee it's the right one for you.

Plus the fact that all these places sell the same products under slightly different names so you can't price match and get a good deal.

We got ours from John Ryan:

Alternatively you could try one of these newer mattress in a box companies like Eve, Leesa etc.
  • having never spent much on a mattress in the past i bit the bullet and bought a kingsize Hypnos mattress from Dreams for around £800, (Hypnos make them up to £1000's).
What a difference it has made to my night's sleep. it's fantastic. along with other retailers there is a peace of mind guarantee that if it isn't comfortable for you they will exchange it for a different one of equal or higher value. wasn't an issue for us but does at least allow you to try it properly over a period of time.
  • I bought one from Amazon that had good reviews for about £140 and am pleased with it!!

Ikea are always great value for money. They do British and European sizing now so there's no clash like there used to be.

This time I spent more and bought a pocket speung mattress directly from Travelodge earlier in the year after spending a week staying in a Travelodge whilst on a course. It's the best thing ever. I've had four friends buy one since then :)

Premier Inn sell one too but it's a wee bit more expensive and I already knew what I was getting with mine.

yeah right... the guy/girl is asking for a good place to buy a mattress and you are suggesting IKEA :rotfl: better sleep on a floor than on their junk furniture...
Either way.. buy an used cheap bed which have great mattress, the key is to buy a bed+mattress not only mattress, if you are buying mattress alone you are in for a surprise :D No1 will sell a good mattress, but people will sell a whole bed+mattresss if they just want something new.

or... Buy online from a place which has free return policy.. But don't buy those cheap ones from Ebay, they only look good in picture, what you will receive is something just of horrible quality.
  • I think online is the best(cheapest place) to buy. If you're looking for quality, I recommend visit local mattress stores. The main reason for that is to get a feel for the bed. The only brands offer something like a free 100 day sleep or something but who wants to do that for like 5 mattresses.
  • What part of the country are you in? John Lewis outlets have them - we bought a heavily discounted Vispring for our spare bed from their Swindon outlet. (We paid full price for our main bed Vispring mattress and I cannot tell the difference).
