How big is this hole, can you not just bung some sand and cement mix in it, then when it's hardened enough, finish with plaster or filler?
As i live a block of flats thus not sure if i use sand or cement it would stay as the outlet wast pipe is boxed in and thus want to fill in the hole which has gap0 -

I still don't understand what you're trying to do!!!
Do you want to:
1: fill the hole were there was the pipe
2: do you want to cover around the pipe
for 2 the collar is what you'd need around the pipe, for 1 you could use expanding foam, then cover it up.EU expat working in London0 -

cover the hole to ensure nothing comes up in to the bathroom0 -

So on the wall, there is a hole with or without a pipe leaving a gap with the external world and the mini guard dog suggestion is not of your likes? :rotfl:
Go to a hardware store and buy a can of expandable foam and spray it, it will close the gap.

Something like this:
I am a fan of expanding foam, but with a proviso. The default mindset should always be fire rated foam unless it is definitely not a fire issue. If the drain pipe/svp is in a block of flats it should definitely be fire foam being considered.0 -
If you've never used this type of foam before, there are a few things to remember.
Apply the foam very slowly and if the hole is very deep, apply it in a couple of goes.
It's very easy to squirt the foam in thinking that it's not filling very well, only to end up with a mound of it on the wall/floor/skirting board. A small amount expands to fill quite a big area.
Make sure that you cover the floor and any painted surfaces as the foam sticks to just about anything and the solvent in it will remove or discolour painted or varnished surfaces, and wear gloves as it's a right bugga to get off your skin.0
