    Start your own?

Although I live in London and there are thousands of London based meetup groups, I wanted one that is area specific and for foodies only and not in big groups (no more than 5 in my meals). There wasn't one like that so I started my own.

It does cost to run a meetup group but you can ask members for a small contribution.

As you can have 3 groups for the price of 1 I will start a theatre goers group. There are already a few theatre ones but I want to create one that is guaranteed for us all to sit together and will throw in drinks after to discuss the show/musical we've just seen.

I tried starting my own group (admittedly not through Meetup) and quite a few expressed interest but when it came to actually meeting, only one person was actually prepared to do it! I think there's just too many stay at home things for people to do these days - it's difficult to get people to actually go out! I know you can do things to promote it but that's a lot more commitment than I have time for right now. Maybe I'll give it another try in the new year.
