What does your window cleaner do for you?

My nephew is starting a window cleaning business. Just as a bit of market research Im asking the question-

Is there anything you wish your window cleaner would do that he does not do as a matter of course?

What annoys you about your window cleaner?

Would also appreciate any general thoughts about the service you get.

Thank you.

  • Wiping down the frames as well, perhaps give the doors a rub down too every couple of visits.
Set days they come, say every fortnight through the middle of the year, and monthly at the start/end of the year.
Offer additional ladder related services like gutter cleaning/repairs.
  • Our window cleaner is good but he is rather random in his scheduling. I can never tell when he might appear next and the windows can get quite dirty when there's a longer gaps. It would be better if he stuck to a regular schedule.

    Ours cleans the windows! ;);)

He has one of these brush on a pole with 'clean' water, so no ladder options.

I wish he would smile more! :p
  • My window cleaner is also rather random in his scheduling, but he sends a text message the day before so I know when to expect him.
  • I think that there must be a market for cleanig inside windows too. I think that having a printed card with additional services on like those mentioned above and prices would be a good idea. Maybe get a DBS check or get Age concern accredited too.
  • Ours is fab - always cheerful, always chatty. He also offers gutter cleaning, and does carpet cleaning too, which means he has work when the weather is too bad for window cleaning.

Ours is random in the Winter but I really don't mind as it costs me less. He does clean the frames and sills, also the front door. It would be good if he did send me a text when he's about to come sounds like a really good idea...
Hope your nephew makes a success of it.

Offer set number of visits a year paid on a standing order, save a load of time driving around asking for fivers hoping customers will be home.

I'm my window cleaner. I do an excellent job, but i don't turn up if it's raining.
