Don't forget the Lumans as well.
I have a 3 lamp light fitting in the kitchen that had 6000K but only 320lm led lamps. Was ok but lacked brightness,
I have just replaced them with 4000K 520lm lamps, the extra lumans gives a brighter light.

I don't understand why people go for the 'cool' colours - they're too white or blue for me. I stick with warm white (that really should be 2700K, but people do call 3000K warm white too). I think when people are offered either white, or yellow light, they like the 'idea' of white light - think of car headlights - but in fact 'yellow' light is more natural to our eye.
Anyone considering the cooler colours - have a look at yourself in the mirror under those lights!

Some people are lucky enough to look cool without any help from lights.

I bet you'd look even more fab. u. lous. under some nice warm light!
  • I have cool white (6500K) GU10 lamps in the kitchen and bathroom and like it so much more than warm white.

Personal preference ultimately. I have warm white in the lounge, hall and bedrooms.

Looking at replacing all the halogen lights in kitchen and bathroom and can not decided whether to get warm or cool white LEDS?

What do you have in yours?

Been in lighting nearly 14 years and can't work out why anyone would even consider 'cool white' for any area of your home. It's a horrible and harsh lightespecially if the CRI is 80 or lower, your skin will look green you look like your rotting. I refuse to sell anything in cool white.

I personally think 2700k is perfect for all areas of a home with varying brightness. If you really must go lighter than 4000k which is more of a Natural White is where you need to stop.

In my home all my task / primary lighting is 2700k and i have 2200k and 2000k lamps scattered around in table lamps, bedside lamps etc for relaxing/dining

General rule of thumb is cool white for kitchens and bathrooms and warm white elsewhere.
    .

Whose rule of thumb is that?

    Certainly not lighting designers.
