We have warm in the kitchen, but cool in the bathrooms.

Daylight is the best. Despite what another poster claimed, these are not blue - they are white. It is cool white which is blueish, and warm white is orangey. Cool white is infinitely better (and appears brighter) than warm white, but daylight is the best of the lot. Needless to say only use good quality lamps.
  • Currently planning new kitchen - and it will be warm white.

A recent article I read confirmed my opinion that the quality of lighting is very important for making people look their best. It was stated there that warm white is much more flattering for women than cool white = decision made on the spot then:).

Add that in some parts of the country the natural light is different/colder than in others (yep....I moved from a softer light area to a harsher light area - so need all the help going to rectify the light I see anywhere to what I've been used to).

Back to your tedious self, Risteard? You're right, they're blueish and orangeish, not blue and orange, but it's the way that you take everything lterally that is the problem.

Anyhow, I'm not going to win any photography awards, but I was going to post this last night but the neighbour had turned off their warm light. Didn't matter anyway as I've got two houses in view.

This is my neighbour and their next door neighbour. You can tell which is warm and which is cool and to me, I know which looks homely.

Even the furthest neighbour hasn't understood what they've purchased as the furthest window is warm.

I always go with warm, never seen a house yet where cool has looked better... In my own house I went for daylight bulbs in a hallway, absolutely horrific if you had to go to the loo in the middle of the night! So replaced them again!
New house I've got 180mm dia led downlights and they are all warm, and any job I've specced has warm too.
But it's all personal preference - warm is the safer choice if you're not sure imo

    Very nicely illustrated!
The cool white does look cold and clinical, which is why we use it in a kitchen with very little natural daylight. If you switch the lights off in the daytime, the kitchen looks gloomy. We have a choice of lights in the living room, but nearly always use the warm white ones.

It's your failure to comprehend which is the problem. I CLEARLY stated that I was referring to daylight not being blueish - it is cool white which is. Daylight is a natural white.

I have cool white in my kitchen, and I will be replacing them with warm white at some stage as like someone above the cool white is too clinical for me.

I like cool best, I really don't like the yellow look indoors but must say it looks better from the outside. The outside look doesn't bother me though.
