Hi everyone looking for your advice
I bought a parkside wet/dry hoover from Lidl in July 2015. It went faulty sept 2016. I contacted lidl who advised me to liaise with the manufacturer Novo Grisly for a repair or replacement. I did this and sent off receipt etc. Novo advised me on 10sept that they would send out replacement part( the motor of the hoover ) within 28 days . I am still waiting on the part .Novo have advised on several occasions it has been shipped from Germany and they are still awaiting on the Lorry to arrive. They can't give me a date when they will be able to send out the part.
When I contacted lidl to ask if I can get a refund due to the length of time it was taking, they advised they could only give partial refund and it's was only the manufacturer who can give a full refund if they can't source the part.
How long do you think is a reasonable time to wait on the part ?
Thanks for any help you can give me

You have no contract with the manufacturer so in reality you can't do anything to get them to either refund you or get the part to you sooner.

You do, however, have you statutory right with the seller and they are complying with that by offering you a partial refund which takes into account the usage you've already had from the machine in the past year and a bit.

Is the warranty offered by Lidl or the manufacturer? (Or are you using the term 'warranty' to just cover the whole issue of getting it repaired?)

I think it's a manufacturer warranty :-( , all I'm looking for is either to get it repaired or if the part is not available a full refund really. Although it was just over a year old , it was never really used that often as it was only for an outhouse that didn't need hoovered that often and if lidl/ manufacturer are offering a 3 year warranty they must have faith in the quality of the product. Feeling disappointed that lidl nor Novo Grissy can tell me when the part will arrive ... slow boat to china keeps coming to mind...lol :-)

Why do you think you should get a full refund when you've had well over a year's use out of it, it simply doesn't work like that. Lidl have accepted that it hasn't lasted as long as it should hence why they've offered a partial refund.

Either take the refund offered or wait for the part.

I've had some grief from Lidl recently on a food processor that lasted 5 months until the plastic of the blade assembly severely cracked making unsafe to use. This too had a 3 year manufacture's warranty.

This was referred to the manufacturer who eventually said they would replace the blade but it was not covered by the warranty. I've asked Lidl to explain what is covered the 3 year warranty but so far they are lying doggo.

It never used to be like this with Lidl, the goods were cheap and not of the highest quality but I thought they would ensure their products were kept working throughout the 3 years. As a result I'm taking back one of their power blenders tomorrow (after reading the instructions it's clearly not up to the job) as I'm certain it'll fail at some point and they or their suppliers will refuse to repair it.

I'm assuming there's nothing actually wrong with it, in which case it'll be down to the store's goodwill if they choose to take it back, unless they offer a money back guarantee that is.
