Email does not just "disappear off into the ether". If an email can't get delivered, the sender usually gets an bounce with the error message in it.
I have my own domain with 1&1
I often get problems sending to hotmail accounts
They just 'disappear into the ether' - no bounce back and don't arrive at the destination.

Catchall accounts are quite handy, but it's not a good idea to have them on the main domain. This gets you tons of spam.
Instead, create a subdomain with a catchall. A subdomain is not so easy to guess, whereas your domain is in the whois for everyone to see. This way you don't need to create a new email address for each company. Once you start getting spam to one of these addresses, create a filter on the server to move these emails to the junk folder.
Can you give us an example of this setup?

Unfortunately, some badly configured MTAs just silently delete thnigs they regard as spam, without either putting it into a spam folder or notifying the sender. So it does disappear into the ethereal email rubbish bin, never to be seen again.Email does not just "disappear off into the ether". Of course, senders using unmonitored addresses as their From: address do not help the situation when a notification is sent but it goes to an address that isn't read or doesn't accept mail (the "double bounce" scenario).Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Thanks for the input, all. Sorry about the delay in getting back, but it just hasn't been possible. Anyway, it's all sorted now. Curry's did have an unsubscribe link, but not exactly easy to locate, so that's now OK. The problems I had were due to 'pilot error'. I had set up the catch-all protocol. When you get to my age, 82, the old cogs don't engage as well as they used to, I'm afraid.
Thanks once again for your assistance in this matter,
