  • I can vouch Blackpool is windy... Alot! I love the red arrows when they visit.

Cheeseface your plan sounds good. I haven't had a nandos in a while. I always forget about NHS discount.

Hope Christmas plans coming along well. Have you much to do?

  • Cheeseface do give my lovely Red Arrows boys a wave as they display overhead at the GNR won't you! It's a display/flypast I'd like to get to but it always clashes with other committments.

They flew over at the start and a bit later on when I ran. There is honestly so much going on at GNR that you barely notice them if you are running.

One food shop, which I'll do today, to buy the cheeses. My contribution to the family dinner. I've got to do a food shop for meals for the rest of the week. It appears hubby didn't quite get it right when he shopped for us on Sunday.

Just wrapping to do now, but hubby always does that. Work seems to have slowed down so it's just bare minimum until after new year I would imagine, apart from a meeting in London on 30th.

I'm enjoying the gradual slow down this year, usually there's a general panic!
  • I lived in South Shields where the gnr used too finish for 13 years Essex if you like the red arrows have you never being too the Sunderland Airshow they are at that every year usually.

Re windy living in sand dancer land for 13 years i am used too running in it.

Yep, done Sunderland a couple of times - one I really enjoy. Also did a day airside with the team at Newcastle Airport last year which was excellent!

Well Cross your fingers for them doing the Airshow again next year - I know it's one they like doing so it would surprise me if it wasn't on the schedule. A shame for you guys in Blackpool that you don;t get them at Blackpool airport any more though - oddly enough another airport I've done airside stuff with them!

Everyone says the same about not seeing them if you're actually running! Not surprised either - just a wee bit busy isn't it!

Being chief cheese supplier to the festivities sounds like my sort of task. Which reminds me - MrEH and I need to contrive a way of wrapping cheeses to survive two days in a rucksack and a flight....:o

    Happy New Year everyone!

Purposeful decision to reduce internet time over festive period but now it's time to get back to normal.

Money management is going well so far since pay day in mid December. I can't believe my direct debits are only just going out today. It's still over three weeks until the next payday.

I paid off my Next bill.:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Very happy about that. Minimum payments off the 0% credit card and everyday credit card so far.

    Jobs for today include
Paying the plumber for fixing the toilet (£80 from emergency fund)
Going to supermarket (sub £45 spend)
Collecting medicine from pharmacy (pre pay certificate so no spend)

We had no big spends over Christmas. I did buy a pair of running shoes £120 reduced to £90, then half price to £45 with my life insurance discount. Proper bargain there but I'm still waiting for them to be delivered. Boo! I paid for my GNR membership with Christmas present money, paid my tax bill and hubbies parking season ticket is due next week.

I'm also into marathon training season now. Pilates this morning then running this evening.

Busy day today with work too but I'll hopefully catch up with all diaries today too.
  • Well done on the training cheeseface. I havent managed any long runs over xmas  nothing more than 7 miles.

Congratulations on paying off the next account, i did that last month and know how awesome it feels :j :j :j
Still here..... but working on that!

That's so much better me. I haven't done anything long than 6 miles in about two months.

Same for me. I'm doing London Marathon , 15 weeks away. It's a stupid amount of training.

I bought Asics GT2000s. It's my fourth pair. I will die if they stop making these.

I over spent on the food budget yesterday. I was aiming for £45 and spent just under £48. However some of the things were reduced so I bought double as they'll go to the store cupboard. I forgot loo roll though. Have an extra adult back from uni is throwing my budget planning.

My husband seems to have lost any sense of budgeting over Christmas. I think I need to sit him down with it all. He says he's happy for me to do it and tell him what he can spend but I just feel like I'm his mum dishing out pocket money that way. He's just told me that the car is due an MOT this month. It was serviced last month when it had a factory recall so it should be ok.

I also really need my eldest to sort out their accommodation for next year so I can plan ahead. I have £700 sat in the everyday savings for his accommodation deposit. I want to know what he will need and what I can pay to the credit card.

I'm feeling so out of control with it at the moment.

Your OH sounds like mine there... he always says can't you just sort it and let me know what I have to spend! And then I end up having to always say no we cant have that/ do that as we can't afford it and I feel like his mother telling him no. The sit down and going through it all together helped even if I was still basically saying what we needed to pay/ do. My plan next time he asks can we do this/ buy that is to say I don't know do you have the money?... answer will be no I am sure but at least he knows all other money is allocated to something so it would be up to him to find it in his 'allowance'
