you get mattress protectors which are a plastic sheet with one side impregnated with cotton.

they do not last long - a few months and they they crack/wear through.

Get him a pot for under the bed, train him to use it....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Don't know if you ave tried it before but spreading baking soda on the smelly surface really helps combating bad smells like urine, vomit, mould on carpets, mattress, shoes, once I even had a suitcase that had mouldy smell in and I just couldn't get rid if it. This saved my .. .everything, just pour the soda on and leave it be for as long as you can then hoover it. It will not cure stains, and smelly shoes would start smell again after a while but mold smell would disappear if that is the only left over.0
