No. Your agreement would be with the power company. Thanks for your replies thus far.
Yes, it is £4.20 per year and current internet speed is slow. If it comes to it I will of course agree but I just thought that this may be a one off chance to blag free internet. Anyone think I have a chance?0 -

I think there are more influential factors than the distance of the cabinet from the house (when you aren't talking metres). I can see our cabinet across the road (within 100 metres) but still get a poor 5.3Mbps feed (admittedly only on ADSL).My main worry would be the fact that they might not site the cabinet so close to your property if you kick up a fuss. I am lucky in that my cabinet is right outside my door so always get a rock solid 80mb (down)/20mb (up) connection - if the cabinet was the other end of my street I might not be so lucky.0 -
When you are on ADSL it is the line length from your house to the exchange that matters. When you are on FTTC it is the line length from your house to the cabinet that matters. So in your situation on ADSL it doesn't make a huge difference if your cabinet is over the road or at the other end of the road.I think there are more influential factors than the distance of the cabinet from the house (when you aren't talking metres).
