EE SIM only contract - Blocking extra charges

Is there any way to block any extra charges happening on an EE SIM only contract plan?

Earlier I accidentally dialled 123 to listen to my voicemail (A habit from when I used to be on 3!) and got the speaking clock, result they've added 29p to my bill for this month...obviously not a disaster but I don't really want any accidental extra charges like that happening in future I would rather just be told you can't do that!

That's the reason companies like you to be on contract rather than payg as there is less control of what you spend - companies must HATE and CRINGE at the idea of you only being able to spend the credit you have put on the sim!
  • But he would still pay from his pay as you go credit for that call, unless he had less than £0.29 on his balance.

To @Johntea, I don't think EE (or any other major operator) offers a block to all out-of-allowance charges. You could try calling their CS at 150 (free from your EE phone) and ask them to block short codes (like the talking clock) entirely.

You will likely NOT want to block other shortcodes such as 101, 105, 111, 112, 116000, 116111 or 116123.

    You will likely want to block numbers starting 070, 084, 087, 090, 091, 098 and 118.

All 084/7 numbers are included in my EE sim only bundle.

Do you ever call any premium rate 084 or 087 numbers?

Those numbers are banned for customer services, financial services and public services.
  • I do. Not as much as I used to, but they are still around - "banned" or not.
