Egg credit card

Options
Hi,
I had an Egg card in 2001 for a number of years. Is it too late to look into whether I paid PPI? I have no paperwork as it is such a long time ago, but I keep hearing that you can go much further back now and I'm wondering if it's worth checking my old bank accounts. How far can you go back exactly?
Thanks in advance!

You can go as far back as you or they have records. If neither of you have any, you don't go anywhere

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Given that egg don't exist any more I think it will be unlikely that they have kept records for 15 years.

Depends when the card was closed, if it was still active when Egg was bought they would have the records with the new company

Basically closed before October 2011 (or not transferred to Barclaycard) it goes to Citibank (Canada Square), otherwise Barclaycard

OP said the card was OPENED in 2001 and had it for "a number of years", I think JimmyTheWig misread it and thought it was only in 2001 - if OP had the card from say 2001-2010, there is a fair chance someone will still have records but it'll need a bit of work from them to chase Canada Square and Barclaycard to find out if either of them know about it and might be a £20 DSAR job to see if either have any records left if front line can't see it

  • Hi,
Thanks for all your comments. I ditched all old paperwork years ago so, I guess it's a lost cause.

I think it might be an idea to check your auto-correct prior to posting.

I would send them [Canada quare Operations] a SAR and £10. Their record keeping is excellent, but they may decide to misinterpret your SAR as a CCA request. If they do that, complain to the ICO.

See what they come back with. They had all of my info.

As above OP needs to speak to CS and Barclays as egg card customers went different ways depending on date otherwise might be a waste of £10 :)

Hi all, I have just recieved a letter from Barclaycard asking me to fill in a online form to see if I have a valid PPI claim against Egg, having filled this in I am expecting another letter to approve or deny the claim next week. Have any members got further than this point and what was the reply?
