Absence from work because of pregnancy but not realising it was caused by pregnancy

If theyre sacking her because she is pregnant then yes that is protected, however, they haven't said that.
they've said that she is unreliable - that could mean anything.0 -
Sounds like she needs to look for an career away from the classroom.
She obviously isn't suited to the work.

She could technically be dismissed for excessive absence even if it is pregnancy related. A decent employer would have a fair few conversations leading up to this with plans on improvements and reasonable adjustments put in place. However, if at the end of the day a misconduct disciplinary could occur and an outcome could result in a dismissal if repeated. Some employers may also suggest time off sick if she was an employee and not on a contract.
Regardless of the other issues brought up in the thread, from a companies perspective, she hasn't completely fulfilled her contract, she has been unreliable albeit due to sickness / pregnancy and therefore they want some stability for the role.0
