Delay or Cancellation?

Hi,

I was recently flying on an easyJet flight that was meant to depart on Sunday at 9pm.

The flight was re-scheduled to the next day at 1pm (but we actually set off at 3.30pm).

The new flight was issued a new flight number etc.

easyJet are saying the flight was delayed until the next day. However, I would suggest it was cancelled, and a new flight chartered.

Is there clarification on when a flight is either severely delayed or cancelled and the passenger is then re-booked onto a new flight? Just want clarity before I submit my claim via Resolver!

Thanks

There is an Easyjet thread that you can post on
Also worth looking for "Vauban's Guide" and decide whether it makes any difference whether it is called a delay or a cancellation - should make no difference to compensation...it will still be based on the reason for the delay/cancellation
