Old Style Daily Wednesday 7th December

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone :hello:
Been up for aaaages so I thought I would start us all off. It's too dark to see what the weather is doing but it feels quite mild here this morning. Hubby is in the shower and the girls are all fast asleep. I went to bed at 9 yesterday as I was so tired so I am up early but feel like I've had plenty of sleep.
Hubby's sister had another heart attack on the weekend but fortunately she was in the hospital at the time and has now had three stents put in and is home for now. We are very grateful to the NHS that her life was saved and she has been very well looked after.
My eldest DD came to see me yesterday which was lovely. I had bought her some curry powder mix for her to try as it is low syns on Slimming World. She is still doing very well and her husband is being really supportive and cooking her healthy meals. I think she is amazing doing it at this time of year when there are so many temptations around. She wants another baby so wants to be as healthy as possible before she conceives.
I am cooking tonight and I think it's going to be grilled beef burgers and wedges with salad. I have a load of wrapping up to do as well so will crack on with that today.
Thinking of you today Coxy, glad your work is going well xx
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread dumpling.
After my day of slobbing around yesterday I've got heaps to do today. Most of it involves being in a meeting about teaching numeracy so not the most joyful.
Hugs to those who are poorly or have poorlies.
Happy Wednesday.0 -
Morning all.
Hugs to LWW, Lainey, Csarina, Coxy and anyone else in need.
I'm at work and have been for about an hour, an extra early start to enable our chef to cook Christmas dinner for 1500 people. As usual there is no milk so I can't have a drink yet.
The solicitors saga rumbles on, the old mortgage has been repaid, but the solicitor has moved my house from near the Thames to near another river called the Themes, they have also billed me for some of the work I did myself!
I will phone them today to try to reclaim my money.
I bought my Christmas present for me from my L&M and I think that's everything now.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, very damp but now mild, was strange yesterday as the fog kept lifting and then coming back all day, was horrible when I left work last night, it was dark, damp and foggy. No fog here at the moment though.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was fish, curly fries/jacket potato, beans/veg, ice cream for dessert. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, tonight we'll be having chicken in sauce, mash and veg, if I can be bothered I'll peel the potatoes before I leave for work, then that job will be done.
Work yesterday was much quieter but the people we are seeing seem to have major problems, some we can help with some we can't, but unfortunately people don't always understand we can only do so much. I'm doing a slightly different job all day today, but it's looking like we may have no computer access - so that'll be interesting as we won't be able to look at anything! Working all day again today, as I'm doing the extra hours this afternoon, I'm working Saturday morning also, so I'll be needing to get household chores done tomorrow and Friday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
2 degrees when I went to bed, 11 degrees this morning - weird. It has been raining but at least the fog has gone.
The builders are going great guns, there are doors where they should be, the flooring arrived and the appliances should arrive today - not sure where they are going to go though, everywhere is full of tools, doors and flooring! They also gave the room a coat of paint - what a difference.
Nothing particularly OS going on here apart from cleaning the bathroom every day (the one the builders use!). Have to admit I am getting a bit fed up washing up in the bath!
Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING. The forecast was right, it feels really mild this morning.
First off my panic attack is over! GP rang me yesterday about the haywire blood results and he thinks it is the new BP tabs that were added earlier in the year and increased last month that has sent my kidney function and saline reading haywire! So to stop those and try another to add to my original one. I had convinced myself the end was nigh!! It's amazing what you can diagnose yourself with from the internet!!
Mr TA, meanwhile, has an endoscopy this afternoon. These are repeated every 18 months to check if any change in his Barrett's disease (yet another ailment he has to contend with) There has been no change for 3 years so it's fingers crossed for that.
Youngest DGD's nativity yesterday was a bit different! Called Babushka with lots of Russian music, dance and song which took place on the way to Bethlehem! DGD6 was the Angel Gabriel and played the part beautifully. She looked so cute and was word perfect on the solo she had to sing. Of course my tissues were out!!
Today I have a day of socialising!! I am meeting my oldest friend (we met at junior school 63 years ago) this morning for a coffee (or two) and a good old natter. We are swapping Xmas gifts for each other and our DGC.
This evening it's my first Wed of the month carvery and wine meal with the "girls". It's always a good night which we all look forward to. One of our gang will be missing as she has gone to Spain for a month. Lucky her!
Maybe this afternoon I will get some jobs done! Then make something nice for Mr TA as he has to starve before his endoscopy. If he feels like eating that is. I am not going with him as it's our local hospital and no room for relatives on the small unit. I said I would wait in the coffee lounge but he said not to as I could be there hours.
Have a good day if you can and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed, LWW, LAINEY, COXY and HILSTEP as always. As well as all the poorlies. Hope the Kent meet up goes well, wish I was nearer! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good Morning chums, mild morning here in north Kent I am up and about and looking forward to this afternoon in Faversham at the mini-meet up.
Had a great evening at quiz last night and we won two bottle of wine :)I now have enough in the stash for all the team members to have a bottle eachhandy for Christmas .
The time is galloping by and I still have some cards to write, but all my presents have been wrapped and sorted thank goodness.
DD texted me last night to say our protest group had made Kent Online re Medway Justice for the homeless and it was complete with photos as well !! Didn't even realise a press photo was being taken !! My DGS texed me from New York as his Mum had told him and said 'Well done Granny Castro' cheeky monkey:):)
Hope you all have a great day and hugs to those who need one

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white :xmassmile

Hester It seems never-ending, it must be driving you nuts. Hope everything is sorted soon xx
TravellingAbuela Loved your post today, you sound happy and much more relaxed xx
One of my deliveries came early, so I ended up with three yesterday. Scampi was very vocal with each one and I couldn't keep him calm, when the third arrived I just said 'yes I know, thank you' and he stopped barking. Can't believe I thanked a dog for telling me someone is at the door. Also can't believe it worked, lol.
This morning I was going to sort through the boxes and check my lists as I unpack them but mum rang and asked if she could bring Little Mate round. I can't resist his little face so I said yesSo gift sorting will have to wait til this afternoon and it'll leave me no time for proper housework. What a shame
