PAC question

Hi i wonder if someone can advise me on this. I cancelled a mobile contract with Talk Mobile on 20th Nov and gave the 30 days notice (I have the chat transcript email). So I contacted Talk Mobile again on 4th Dec to ask for the PAC code and was asked if I want to give 30 days notice.

So I said I had already done this and had already closed my account. Talk Mobile's reply was "So too (sic) generate you a PAC code we will need to generate a new 30 days notice it is the only way we can generate a PAC code on the system."

Does this sound right? i don't see why I should pay an extra 2 weeks just to get the PAC code.

Talkmobile's website makes it clear you have to request the PAC before you cancel the contract. Just put pac in the search field in the help section.

This is standard for every mobile phone co I've been a customer of.

You're lucky they were able to stop the original cancellation or you would have lost your number.

If you use the Pac withing 30 days of getting it, this will transfer the number and close the account as soon as the number transfers to your new supplier (that you give your PAC to) without having to deal with talk mobile again. This has been the case with me when changing suppliers anyway. Closing the account in the first way you describe will usually lose you your number once the account closes.
