Car hie in Spain - is it me?

We recently hired a car for one week from Malaga. I spent ages poring over the MSE advice and took out CDW etc insurance here. Ther initial car booking was £27.62 (Holiday Autos) for a fuel deal described as 'Full - Full'. At Marbesol the deal was either (a) 'Full-Full' and no liability at an extra cost of Eur 164.99 or (b) a credit card charge of Eur 2,000.00 in case of damage and Eur 100.00 for fuel. Should I have bothered with Holiday Autos and gone straight to the Marbesol site? The end cost of £24/day seems more realistic than the £4/day which was obviously unreaslistic.

Why use a broker or middleman when you can book direct? There's no point involving a 3rd party in the booking.

Go onto the relevant destination forum on Trip Advisor for advice on the best car hire companies to use, and then book direct.
