Agreed but above 60c and it dies and then it’s only if it’s present in the first instance. Just build in a hot burst once a week and the chances are virtually zero of it being active

Newbuilder, yeah I've always been on wifi l
So can I check, connected to your home WiFi you can “locally connect” through the app to get real time data or do you have to connect to the Lux WiFi to do that. I want to connect from home WiFi to local connect on the Lux

"Local connect" needs a direct wifi connection to the Lux dongle so you need to disconnect from your home wifi and connect to the ssid broadcast by the Lux dongle.
At work just now so can't check but I think the ssid is the serial number of the dongle.

Yeah I am used to doing that but wondered if there was a way to bridge it to avoid running from the garage to the smart meter or running to the garage when problem solving the solar diverter (to get real time data)

Ah ok, not that I'm aware of.
Although you can do what your looking for via the web portal.
On the front page, hit the "reload" button (2 small arrows to the right of the pv icon).
That will reload the data roughly every 10 seconds, pretty much the same as "local connect" mode.

My under standing was the web portal only sent the data from the Lux every 5 min?

I think its been stated before that the chart at the bottom of the page only plots every 5 mins... hitting the reload button will update in almost real time.  Just tested and it is very responsive

Yeah I think it was previously 5 minutes even if you hit "reload" but it updates about as quick as "local connect" now when you hit the reload button.

Can I ask a general question / bit of advice?

Way back at the start of this thread I think I calculated that the cost of storage was about 10p/kWh*. It wasn't a fair estimate, but just an early one for reference. I used a Powerwall II, and based it only on the warranted cycles (at the time). I think I explained that I wasn't trying to be overly hard, just taking an early days position till we'd had more experience of batts, and how well they lasted.

*I divided the cost by the number of kWh's, which in turn was based on the sensible useable amount of capacity times number of cycles, times again by 90% to represent an average capacity slowly dropping to 80% over that time period. I don't know if that is still considered the best/reasonable way to calculate it?

So now that so many of you have batts, that seem to be working really well, and are paying far less (per kWh) to buy them, and it seems the expected cycles have risen(?) what would be a fair estimate for the cost of domestic sized storage now .... 5p/kWh ..... less .....?

    Thanks for any advice.

Hi Mart, purely based on the cheapest deal currently for new Pylontech batts, not including an inverter and if I'm reading your calculation right >

    2.4kwh x 90% = 2.16kwh x 90% = 1.94kwh
    £750 / 1.94kwh = £386.60 / 6000 cycles = £0.06
