New Laptop Recommendations

I have to ask because I'm back in the UK soon and want to get a new laptop. What is so bad about Currys/PC World specifically. I know the 'Tech Guys' are useless and the sales staff are too, but the machines must be the same spec and quality as 'elsewhere' surely? TIA

This is something that has puzzled me too. Presumably they'll be having sales soon, and if you see something you like at a reasonable price, why not buy it, and with the knowledge gained on this forum about scams like their attempts to sell you extras, just resist all that stuff.
What other high street outlets are available? Argos, Tesco I suppose.
I wonder how Currys/PC World compare to such as these?
  • I don't recommend cheapish HP consumer models... not great build quality. Had one and hinge packed up in about a year. I personally found Dell laptops better built.

If Currys / PCW have what you want at the price you want I see no reason not to buy from them. I've never heard good reports about the knowledge of their sales staff or support services, but hardly different in that respect from most other big retailers.

For me the keyboard and trackpad are the important things to try - some are cramped, or oddly arranged, or just have a horrid feel.

haughty nerds like to show their superiority on forums by slagging off Curry's/PCWorld whilst probably purchasing from the very establishment they pretend to despise.

A technically capable or generally wise punter has no reason to fear sales patter, and both are capable of researching prices beforehand.
Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand
